Dress for Success: Job Seeker Do’s and Don’t’s

What you wear, as a job seeker, can have a significant impact on the success or failure of your job.

Check out Laurie Ruettimann’s post titled: Peep Toe Shoes for an Interview

Is it really that big a deal?

Yes, it is.  I remember an interviewee who’s hair was so distracting that I don’t remember our conversation.  Another who’s skirt was so short my thought was “if I hire her I’m going to get teased for hiring her for her legs.”  One time, out of 12 people, only one person dressed in a suit (or suit equivalent).  That had a huge impact on how I remembered him.

So what are the do’s and don’t’s of how to dress?  Here are two posts I wrote in 2008 – they were FUN to write, and the comments were great.

Dress for Failure

Dress for Failure for Women

Does this change how you might dress?
