Planning to apply for a new job? Now is a perfect time. Do you know why?
New Year, new beginnings. However, this is especially true in 2022 following “The Great Resignation.” Oh, and have you heard that there is a worker shortage in almost every industry?
January is a common month for companies to open up some really great opportunities!
Starting in January and continuing into March, you should see a lot more job postings. Most companies evaluate their budgets and staff in the last quarter of the year to prepare for the new year. New budgets tend to mean new roles and higher salaries – especially now in order to provide attractive offers in this highly competitive market.
Don’t Forget to Network
Social distancing and quarantine have forced us to be very creative in how we connect for our careers and job searches.
Spend some time researching opportunities to connect with other business professionals in your area. LinkedIn and Facebook are two good places to start. Look for events and meetings you can join virtually. Create a list of groups you are interested in and make a note of when they meet. Most organized networking groups meet regularly (online and/or in-person). Don’t forget to put them in your calendar or set reminders for yourself of when they are happening.

Take a Leap!
Remember, you don’t have to be 100% qualified for a job to apply to it. Get creative. A typical job description has must-haves and nice-to-haves. If you meet 50-60% of the posted qualifications, don’t hesitate to apply. If you can get a referral into the company- even better!
