Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful!

On behalf of Peter, and the team at Career-Resumes, I want to say THANK YOU!  We are thankful to you as a Career-Resumes customer, evangelist, LinkeIn connection, and someone who reads this blog.

I was laid off in January of 2006.  By Thanksgiving of 2006 I had ended my job search and started my own company.

I was thankful for the opportunity to try my hand at “The American Dream,” with my own business.

But I was scared.  Very scared.

At the time I had spent about 10 months without a real income. Though my expenses were modest, it was a scary time.

I could be thankful, though, even through the scary time.  And you can too.

I know it’s hard to be unemployed during the holidays.  Everyone seems to be loving, laughing, enjoying, and buying (gifts, food, etc.).

But you are not alone, even though you feel alone.

Do me a favor, during these holidays:  Enjoy. Be thankful.  Enjoy your family and friends.

Get your head together, restrategize, regroup, and be ready to do what you need to do to get your income back.  If that means facing fears (calling people on the phone), prepare to do it.  Get the numbers ready.  Get your mind ready to confront the fear.

But instead of fretting, stressing and worrying, enjoy.  You can’t rewind and have a do-over with your family.  So make it count right now.

I think you might be thankful for years to come if you don’t stress this time away.
