The Labor Department released its latest unemployment figures today and it shows that unemployment actually dropped in June to 5%. Employers added 146,000 jobs which brought the unemployment figure to its lowest since September 2001 (a month that will live in infamy). It’s interesting to note that factory payrolls shrank during this time period while service jobs grew by 113,000. Just a further indication that America rolls on the wheels of FedEx rather than GM.
If summer is such a bad time to job hunt, then why is there job growth? It’s because the premise that June, July and August are not good job hunting months is a MYTH. Now is a great time to look for a job. In fact, summer is better than in September/October because many budgets do not renew until October 31, thus making that time period a little slower in hiring.

So many people take no action on finding a more satisfying job simply out of fear. 70% of Americans are unhappy with their jobs. Why do they settle for less? They fear change. They fear failure. They fear the unknown. Fear is the antithesis of success. No one who has ever succeeded has allowed fear to paralyze them. Sure, fear is legitimate, but letting it rule your attitude is ridiculous.
