Has your job search been impacted by the coronavirus? Have you had any interviews cancelled or switched to online and/or phone interviews? As each type of industry is impacted uniquely, things are changing on a daily basis. However, the good news is that many companies are realizing how much work can be done remotely.
The result will most likely be an increase in the availability of remote jobs. Jobs site Glassdoor reported a more than doubling of job postings with keywords related to coronavirus this month, particularly within the government, healthcare, biotech and pharmaceuticals.
What can you do to keep your job search going?
Get familiar with video conferencing software and apps. Video conferencing apps, including WeChat Work, Zoom and Slack, have risen nearly fivefold since the start of the year. If you haven’t used any of these programs, take the time now to play around with them and get comfortable with them. The first time you use it should not be five minutes before your scheduled remote interview!
